Last week we talked about friends, but today we’re go ing to talk about the people that really matter. Family.   It’s really easy to get swept up in everything while you’re at school and forget about your family. It’s also really easy to get homesick and want to go home every weekend.   Today I’m goin g to give you some tips on how to deal with feeling homesick, but also ho w to keep you from going home every weekend.   It’s totally ok to go home every now and then, but if you spend every weekend of your college years going home, you won’t ever really experience college the wa y you want.   🩷 Call your family!   - Whether this is a quick phone call on the way to class or a long FaceTime at night. Just call them. It will make you feel better, and it will help remind them that you are ok. I try to call my parents as often as possible, just hearing their voice always makes me fee l better. Welcome back! Today we’re going to talk about one of my favorite things about college... friends!   Before I came to college, I was a little anxious about making friends. I lived 3 hours away from campus and I didn’t know anyone from my high school that was going here. I was absolutely terrified that I wouldn’t meet anyone and would spend the next 4 tears alone.   I’m so glad I was wrong about that.   Making friends was actually pretty easy and I’m so thankful for that.   One of the biggest things to remember is that everyone around you is trying to make friends. All the freshmen on your hall are looking for friends just like you, so even though it might be scary, go up to one of them and just start a conversation. You never know where it could lead you!   Another thing I would recommend is joining a club or a team. I joined the dance team my freshman year and that’s where I met my best friend.
